To my sweeties...

Hello sweeties!
I just want to thank you for the last five years I spent with you. I would love to be one more year in Mª Teresa Iñigo de Toro School, but unfortunately it has not been possible. From the 1st of September I'm working in CEIP Giner de los Ríos. It's a very nice school, there are not many students and it is very close from your school.

I know you already met your new teachers, and I'm sure you'll treat them as good as you did with me.

I am aware the last five years you've been working very hard, you spent lots of hours studying science. It has not been easy, but you proved me that through perseverance you can reach your targets. This is something that you taught me and I must thank you for that. I also know it has not been easy to start a project like "Bilingualism" but you and your families faced the challenge. I consider all the amount of hours all of us have invested throughout these years have been worthy. I'm sure you can go very far, so keep working so hard.

It has been a pleasure and you will never imagine how much you mean to me. I got more than what I gave, you gave me a lot of care and love, so you must know each of you have already become part of my life, you'll always be in my heart, forever.

Love
Araceli

Healthy salad

Just cut the fruit into cubes, as regular as possible. Then overlay the different elements, alternating colours.
The result is a sort of fruit Rubik’s cube. You can also add some cubes of cheese to vary the textures and flavours.

Bending water with static by science kids

What you'll need:
  • A plastic comb (or an inflated balloon)
  • A narrow stream of water from a tap
  • Dry hair

Instructions:
  1. Turn on the water so it is falling from the tap in a narrow stream (just a few millimetres across but not droplets).
  2. Run the comb through your hair just as you normally would when brushing it (do this around 10 times). If you are using a balloon then rub it back and forth against your hair for a few seconds.
  3. Slowly move the comb or balloon towards the stream of water (without touching it) while watching closely to see what happens.
What's happening?
The static electricity you built up by combing your hair or rubbing it against the balloon attracts the stream of water, bending it towards the comb or balloon like magic!
Negatively charged particles called electrons jump from your hair to the comb as they rub together, the comb now has extra electrons and is negatively charged. The water features both positive and negatively charged particles and is neutral. Positive and negative charges are attracted to each other so when you move the negatively charged comb (or balloon) towards the stream, it attracts the water's positively charged particles and the stream bends!

Golden Gate Bridge 75th Aniversary

The Golden Gate Bridge is a famous suspension bridge in California, USA. It joins the city of San Francisco with the Marin Peninsula.

They started to build it on January, 1933 and finished on May the 27th 1937. It was built in a dangerous place. San Francisco is near a fault line, so there is always the danger of earthquakes.

Animation of Golden Gate Bridge construction: 1. Anchor points are placed either side of span and foundations for the two support towers are placed in the ground under the sea. 2: Two support towers were put up on the foundations, and the main cable was attached to the top of the towers and to the anchor points at each end of the span. 3: Working from both ends of the bridge, stringers were hung from the main cable, each supporting a little bit of the flat deck, until they met in the middle, completing the bridge. by skyriders.com

To build a base for the tower, the bridge builders needed to work 30 metres below the ocean surface. They made a huge box that reached from the surface down to the ocean floor. Then they pumped the sea water out so that they could make the concrete base for the tower.o the bridge. They had to be made by machines that were right next to the bridge and then pulled across the two towers.
