Biscuits recipe

Ingredients

100g softened butter/margarine

100g soft brown sugar

1 small spoon of honey

150g flour

1/2 small spoon of vanilla extract (optional)

50g chocolate chips or Smarties

Preheat the oven to 170°C.
Beat the butter, sugar and honey together until it's soft and creamy.
Mix in the flour, (vanilla extract, optional) and add the chocolate chips.
Divide the mixture into about 15 pieces and roll into balls using your hands.
Place well apart on greased baking sheets. Do not flatten them.
Bake for about 10 mins until a pale golden colour (don't cook any longer or they'll go crispy!)
Leave to cool on the tray for a few minutes and then remove from the tray and finish cooling on another tray.

1_ Vatican City. It's the world's smallest state. It's surrounded by Rome (Italy).
2_ Monaco. It's the second smallest country of the world.
3_ Nauru. It's a Pacific island.
4_ Tuvaru. It is composed of 9 coral atolls along 360 mile chain in Polynesia.
5_ San Marino. It is located in north central Italy.
6_ Liechtenstein. It is located in the Rhine River between Switzerland and Austria.
7_ Marshall Islands. They were part of the Trust Territory of Pacific Islands.
8_Saint kitts and Nevis. It's a Caribbean country. Nevis is the smallest island.
9_Seychelles. It is an Indian Ocean island.
10_Maldives. These islands gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1965.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day or Poppy Day is a special day observed in England to remember all those men and women who were killed during the two World Wars.

The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month marks the sign of the Armistice, to signal the end of World War One.

The Sunday nearest to 11 November is Remembrance Sunday. Special services are held at war memorials and churches all over Britain. At 11 a.m. people across Britain hold a two minute silence to remember the millions who have died in war.

The week before 11 November, you'll see people in the streets and on TV wearing a poppy. They are red flowers made of card and they have been used since 1920 to commemorate soldiers who have died in war. Poppies are also used to raise money for people whose lifes have been changed by war.

Solar Impulse

   Solar Impulse is a Swiss sun-powered aircraft. It can fly day and night using no fuel. It is fitted with 12000 solar cells, feeding four electric engines.

   It holds the record for the longest flight by a manned solar-powered aeroplane after staying aloft for 26 hours, 10 minutes and 19 seconds above Switzerland, also setting a record for altitude by flying at 9235 metres.

To my sweeties...

Hello sweeties!

I just want to thank you for the last five years I spent with you. I would love to be one more year in Mª Teresa Iñigo de Toro School, but unfortunately it has not been possible. From the 1st of September I'm working in CEIP Giner de los Ríos. It's a very nice school, there are not many students and it is very close from your school.

I know you already met your new teachers, and I'm sure you'll treat them as good as you did with me.

I am aware the last five years you've been working very hard, you spent lots of hours studying science. It has not been easy, but you proved me that through perseverance you can reach your targets. This is something that you taught me and I must thank you for that. I also know it has not been easy to start a project like "Bilingualism" but you and your families faced the challenge. I consider all the amount of hours all of us have invested throughout these years have been worthy. I'm sure you can go very far, so keep working so hard.

It has been a pleasure and you will never imagine how much you mean to me. I got more than what I gave, you gave me a lot of care and love, so you must know each of you have already become part of my life, you'll always be in my heart, forever.
