A leap year

A leap year contains 366 days, where February has 29 days: intercalated to compensate for the quarter-day difference between an ordinary year and the astronomical year. 

This is because the Earth actually takes 365.24 days to orbit the Sun completely. This figure is rounded to 365.25, so after four years, we have to add an extra day. 

Occurring in years whose last two digits are evenly divisible by four, except for centenary years not divisible by 400.

Pakistani fishermen catched the biggest whale shark of the world.
 

Fishermen killed and transported an 12-meter long whale shark, weighing in at 22 tons. Initially, the owner of the boat had hired two small cranes to lift the whale shark. The two cranes were unsuccessful in lifting the 22 ton animal out of the water, which prompted the boat’s owner to arrange for a single heavy-duty crane to get the job done.

My pet

Polita is my pet. My grandmother bought it fifty years ago, and since then it has been living with us.

Punxsutawney Phil

Groundhog Day 2012

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow when he came out of his tree stump on February the 2nd in Pennsylvania. According to the legend, if Phil sees his shadow, we should expect six more weeks of winter weather. If Phil does not see his shadow, spring is just around the corner.
